How do I make a personalized video message?
Creating your first video message may seem overwhelming at first, but it’s actually quite easy once you have a plan and structure for each video.
Here are tips to help you with preparation, what to avoid, and what to say in your videos to increase the chances of a successful outcome.
Rules of thumb for video
- Place yourself and the vehicle in the picture
- Don’t re-watch your video
- Use a smartphone holder
- Record in landscape mode
- Build up a certain structure: always display the vehicle the same way
- Keep the best for last: record the exterior first and then the interior
- Never close a door or tailgate while recording, that makes too much noise for the viewer
- Always finish off the video with a “call to action”
Preparation video
- Have the customer’s name, needs, and questions at hand
- Double check your sound, lighting, and space for the vehicle
- Think ahead of time about what you are going to say and what the customer should do after watching the video
- Keep the key (if needed) at hand
- Details (what makes this vehicle special?)
Top 5 tips
- Don’t watch your own video
- Be enthusiastic
- Take your time
- Explain what you are going to do
- Use a smartphone holder
